Injury Prevention Workshops at The Movement Sanctuary (Florida)

Want to learn more about your body and how to protect yourself from injury while participating in circus acrobatics? Do you happen to live in Florida?! Dr. Carlie Huberman, physical therapist, professional circus artist, and owner of Elite Arts Physical Therapy in North Carolina, is coming to The Movement Sanctuary in Saint Petersburg, Florida to teach two workshops on Injury Prevention! One workshop will cover the shoulders and upper back, while the other one will cover the hips, knees and feet. These workshops will go over some basic anatomy, current research on aerialists and acrobats, and how the movement required from aerials and acrobatics affects it all. It will cover different injuries and weaknesses that are common in this population and how you can help combat these problems. You will learn exercises, stretches and drills that can be done both on and off the apparatuses so you can strengthen and stretch both at the studio and at home! Modifications will be provided for students who have current injuries that would like to participate.

November 9th:
2:00pm : Shoulders and Upper Back
4:15pm: Hips, Knees, and Ankles

Workshops are two hours long.
$45 for one workshop
$80 for both workshops
